Era Publishing interview with the director

"Our experiences publishing in Australia had toughened us up a bit, and by the time we launched ourselves in the UK at the London Thames Festival, we were ready for anything! We quickly found an onshore publisher who could print our books on sustainable materials here to save our forests, and we quickly made friends in the green network. We wanted to start a company that could not ony make money, but that could help save the world a little bit - to help where we could. We are part of the planetfriendly.co.uk network, and we distribute our books through LSN Library, part of the eco-friendly LSN business directory. We leant our weight behind the cliimate change initiatives championed by friendlyearth.co.uk. and we hope to donate some of the profits from our first sales here to at least one hot rocks electricity project. We encourage everyone to read widely, experience much, and share the joy of discovery as widely as possible. My message to everyone reading is, support your independent publishers and bookshops, because we support you: We keep your reading choices diverse. If you can, buy all your books from independents - even if buying a Harry Potter or a Lord of the Rings book for example - as every sale means financial support for the independents, and translates into more diversity when you browse."
