Block - interview with the artist
"To me the City Block box is like the shadow of buildings you see
when the sun is going down. There is something I love about that shape.
Lately I've been involved in greening my city block - helping to plant
a veg garden in a disused ball court. It's exciting. In art school everything
was psychology, now it's about outcomes with plants and soil. It's very
satisfying. Before this I was throwing angry messages onto walls with
cans of spray paint. Now I'm trying to make a contribution."
Planting combos: In
this box we plant our 6mth, 1 yr, 2 yr, 5 and longlife Instant Gardens,
growing corn and soy beans, leeks, herbs, tomatoes & perennials. These
boxes go on balconies and in front of glass windows and doors where there's
about six hours of sunlight or more a day. We also supply lamps for low
light conditions.
